A-shell

A-Shell 5.0 (and not earlier versions) is fully supported under Vista. Aside from an issue about the installation directory (see following note), there are no known operational or compatibility problems, and any such issues will be resolved as they are discovered. See the general A-Shell support forum for applicable discussions.

One potential problem that has been reported has to do with Vista's obsession with security and restricting access to files in the "c:\program files" directory tree. It seems that the entire "c:\program files" directory tree is carefully protected from people and programs who might create or edit files. If you install A-Shell to this directory tree, you will likely get a security violation when you launch A-Shell, since A-Shell itself (that's right, the program!) is not allowed to create the .SYS files A-Shell requires for operation. The fix for this is simple; install A-Shell in its normal and default directory of c:\vm..., or anywhere else that is not c:\program files. Note that this problem does not apply to ATE, which can be installed in the default installation folder (c:\program files\microsabio\ate) without complications.

ATE

As with A-Shell, there is some concern about the installation file directory. If you install ATE to its default installation folder (c:\program files\microsabio\ate), it is possible that you will encounter security violations when ATE tries to write temporary files into its working directory. Unfortunately, we have not yet gained enough experience to have a definitive explanation of when this might occur.

ZTERM

ZTERM 2000, version 144 or later, supports operation under Vista. It may be required that you must run ZTERM in XP Compatibility Mode and as an administrator. See the general ZTERM support forum and specifically the topic called Vista Compability Issues for more and up-to-date information.
