A-Shell In Use

A-Shell is sold primarily through a network of professional computer systems resellers, who typically provide a "complete solution" (integrated hardware and software) for a particular kind of business.  Listed below are some of the resellers that have established market-leading systems solutions, and who depend on A-Shell to provide them and their customers with platform independence and flexibility.  (Click on a logo/picture for a link to the reseller's site.)

We began installing our AlphaMicro-based multi-user accounting system for Italian businesses in 1984.  Beginning in 1994, to meet the requirements of our changing market, we moved to non-AlphaMicro hardware and were the first reseller to widely install and use A-Shell.   Since that time, we have used A-Shell for all of our new customers, and have converted most of our older customers to A-Shell as well.  We like it very much because the maintenance is simple, and the same compiled programs work under both AMOS and Windows.

Firmaware was established in Portugal in 1992.  Until 1997, we installed mostly Alpha Micro computers using software developed by our firm.  In the past few years we have converted our existing customers--and of course all new customers--to A-Shell for Windows, and have been able to expand our business to all areas related to PCs and Windows-based networks.  Today, our main areas of expertise are:

  • network solutions with internet access, e-mail distribution, document flow and, in general, company organization as a whole

Victorex, Inc., a software development firm in New Hampshire, has been writing programs in Alpha Basic, and using AlphaMicro hardware, for over twenty years.  The firm has specialized in vacation property management software, and has one of the most comprehensive and capable such systems available from any source.  Victorex is a long-time user of A-Shell, and, unlike most A-Shell resellers, uses and supports the product on numerous platforms (i.e., DOS, Windows, UNIX).  Victorex also does Internet search engines and online reservations for vacation rental managers.  If you need powerful software for vacation rental management, get in touch with Victorex.

Our good friends at Celibec have been selling AlphaMicro computer systems, as well as A-Shell and "Wintel" based systems, since 1981.  Located in Quebec have having more than 200 users, Celibec is clearly a force to be reckoned with.    Their two primary application packages are Distribution (retail / wholesale) and ERP (manufacturing).  The Distribution package is written entirely in Alpha-Basic / ISAM, and runs under A-Shell.  The ERP package does not run under A-Shell but rather under Visual Basic / Oracle, and interfaces to the Celibec accounting package running under A-Shell.
